AIXTRON starts construction of new innovation centre

AIXTRON SE has officially started the construction of the new innovation centre at its headquarters in Herzogenrath, Germany. The leading provider of deposition equipment to the semiconductor industry is investing around €100M in 1000m² of clean room with additional space for the required metrology equipment. This research facility will feature the latest technologies available in the industry. The first systems are scheduled to move into the new building during the second half of 2024. The official handover is planned for early 2025.

Gallus receives prestigious award from Schreiner Group

"This award recognises suppliers who have distinguished themselves through reliability, quality and delivery reliability," says Roland Schreiner, Managing Director of Schreiner Group. Fraunhofer FEP: Condition monitoring of ornamental plants with microdisplays and neural networks to optimise fertilisation

Conservation of resources and reliable yields are just as essential in plant cultivation as in other branches of agriculture. In order to optimise fertilisation processes in ornamental plant cultivation in the future and thus protect the environment, researchers at the Fraunhofer Institute for Organic Electronics, Electron Beam and Plasma Technology FEP (Dresden, Germany) together with the Saxon State Office for Environment, Agriculture and Geology (LfULG) have been researching a technology for the early detection of nutrient deficiencies or surpluses in ornamental plants in the ZierSens project (financed by funds from the Free State of Saxony). The use of bidirectional OLED microdisplays in combination with neural networks should make it possible to optimize fertilisation processes in the future.
