Imec to tackle growing water risks with internet of water

The Belgian region of Flanders pioneers the internet of water, a unique intelligent water management system based on  a network of connected sensors, that enables a permanent and real time follow-up of water quality and quantity. This is expected to enable Flanders to tackle the growing threat of water inconvenience, water scarcity and water pollution. Recently Flanders’ minister-president Geert Bourgeois activated a first sensor, close to The Blankaart in Diksmuide.

Merck selects three winning teams for Displaying Futures Award

Merck (Darmstadt, Germany), a leading science and technology company, announced the winners of the third annual Displaying Futures Award. This year, 97 applicants from around the globe submitted their smart medical ideas. The top ten teams, who have devoted themselves to topics such as wearables, artificial intelligence for real time data, smart devices for diagnostics, and sensors for disease prediction, were invited to the new Merck Innovation Center at the company headquarters in Darmstadt, Germany on 4-6 June where they pitched their ideas for a chance to be one of the three winning teams.

Canatu cooperates with Continental for 3D touch in automotive interiors

Canatu from Helsinki, Finland, recently announced a development cooperation with the German technology company Continental. Canatu and Continental have been working on a completely new type of transparent, 3D touch surfaces in automotive interiors, resulting the world’s first touchscreen featuring a 3D touch surface. The transparent 3D shapes have been enabled by thin and conductive Canatu CNB films and sensors.
