Norwegian tent cloth company Tarpon Solar, together with Midsummer, a leading Swedish developer of flexible solar solutions, has developed flexible tarpaulins and canvases with integrated solar cells. These flexible fabrics enable e.g. industrial halls, temporary structures and tents to produce renewable energy.
ENGIE, Heliatek and the Departement of Charentes Maritimes officially inaugurated the world's largest BiOPV installation on a roof. In the southwestern port of La Rochelle, France, 500m² of Heliatek's solar films were installed on the roof of the “Pierre Mendes France” middle school. With three different lengths of 2, 4 and 5.7m, nearly 400 films were applied in record time. They were installed on two different roof surfaces. The result is the largest BiOPV – building integrated organic photovoltaic - roof installation, worldwide to date, and the living proof of the ease and speed at which these solar films can be installed on a building.
The organic photovoltaic experts from Eight19 (Cambridge, UK) have announced that they have received a further £1.3M of investment. Lucros Investment (Netherlands) joined existing investors IP Group, Clarium and Providence in the round. The new investment follows two years of continued improvement in OPV performance, advances in manufacturing readiness and an increased engagement with customers in the retail, FMCG and IoT sectors.
