E Ink (Cambridge, Massachusetts), a leading innovator of electronic ink technology, announced that its patented ePaper display technology has been used in the development of the Pomera DM30, a portable digital typewriter produced by King Jim, a Japan-based office stationary supply company.
Canatu from Helsinki, Finland, recently announced a development cooperation with the German technology company Continental. Canatu and Continental have been working on a completely new type of transparent, 3D touch surfaces in automotive interiors, resulting the world’s first touchscreen featuring a 3D touch surface. There are videos on the internet that can make one marvel at technology. For example, a smartphone is casually bent around the arm or a thin-film display is rolled in all directions and with almost every diameter. From the user's point of view, this looks fantastic. From a professional point of view, however, the question arises: Is that already possible? At Display Week 2018, scientists from the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Polymer Research IAP have been demonstrating today’s technological possibilities and their next projects. Display Week is one of the world's leading display technology fairs and conventions, taking place from 22 to 25 May in Los Angeles, California.
