Fraunhofer FEP: World record for OLED microdisplay

OLED microdisplays have so far been developed predominantly on 200mm wafers. These conventional CMOS technologies and the associated backplane design have limited the number and size of pixels until now. At the Fraunhofer Institute for Organic Electronics, Electron Beam and Plasma Technology FEP (Dresden, Germany), OLED microdisplays have been realised for the first time in a 28-nanometre backplane technology on 300mm wafers within the "Backplane" project funded by the Saxon State Ministry of Economics, Labour and Transport (SMWA).

Nanosys presents new CEO

Nanosys (Silicon Valley, California), a leader in the development and commercialisation of quantum dot technology, has named Dr Martin Devenney, Nanosys’ former Chief Operating Officer and Senior Vice President of Manufacturing, as new Chief Executive Officer. Jason Hartlove, the CEO since 2008, has stepped down from his daily operations role. After leading the company through a period of significant growth and success, Hartlove has decided to pursue other interests. He will remain on the Board of Directors as one of the largest shareholders and continue to serve as a strategic advisor to Nanosys.
