The Japanese companies Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation and Pioneer Corporation recently announced the successful development of organic light emitting diode (OLED) elements using a wet coating process. Both companies have agreed to set up a testing facility with the aim to reach mass production.
BASF SE based in Germany and Royal Philips Electronics of the Netherlands have achieved a practical breakthrough in the development of OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) technology that allows it to be integrated in car roofs. When switched off the OLEDs are transparent, allowing a clear view outside the vehicle. When switched on they provide light only within the vehicle.
