Approximately 185m² of Heliatek's (Dresden, Germany) organic photovoltaic films were installed on the façade of a warehouse of Duisburger Hafen AG in August. It is a sub-project within the cooperation agreement „Drehkreuz Energiewende“, which was established between Duisburger Hafen AG and the energy company innogy in 2016. The trial installation has 192 three metre-long HeliaSol film panels, making it the largest facade installation to date with organic photovoltaics (OPV).
Imprint Energy (Alameda, California) announced the successful completion of a US$5M investment round. Investors included Imprint’s technology partner Semtech, the u.life fund, which is managed by Global Value Investment Portfolio Management (GVIP), and previous investors including Phoenix Venture Partners (PVP).
Imec (Leuven, Belgium), a leading research hub in nanoelectronics, energy and digital technology, within the partnership of EnergyVille, recently announced a record result for its 4-terminal perovskite/silicon tandem photovoltaic cell. With a power conversion efficiency of 27.1 percent, the new imec tandem cell beats the most efficient standalone silicon solar cell. Further careful engineering of the Perovskite material will bring efficiencies over 30% in reach.
