Merck (Darmstadt, Germany), a leading science and technology company, announced the winners of the third annual Displaying Futures Award. This year, 97 applicants from around the globe submitted their smart medical ideas. The top ten teams, who have devoted themselves to topics such as wearables, artificial intelligence for real time data, smart devices for diagnostics, and sensors for disease prediction, were invited to the new Merck Innovation Center at the company headquarters in Darmstadt, Germany on 4-6 June where they pitched their ideas for a chance to be one of the three winning teams.
During the last two years, as part of the EU-funded PVme project, an international consortium of 10 companies and research centres worked together to find solutions for a sustainable building façade. PVme stands for "organic PhotoVoltaic systems integrated in Manufactured building Elements". Almost at the end of the project, the inauguration of the organic-based BIPV (Building Integrated Photovoltaics) façade took place recently at the Engie Fabricom building in Zwijndrecht, close to Antwerp, Belgium.
Schreiner MediPharm, a Germany-based global provider of specialty pharmaceutical labelling solutions for over 65 years, working in conjunction with the Dutch technology company ECCT (Experts in Communications & Connectivity Technology), has developed a smart blister pack for a global pharmaceutical corporation to enhance medication adherence by clinical trial participants. The introduction of this innovative electronic tool for managing and tracking processes during clinical trials is expected to mark a milestone for this global group of companies.
