Schreiner PrinTrust: 10 years of RFID tolls in the Warnow Tunnel

 

It is one of the most modern road tunnels in Europe, saves thousands of commuters the stop-and-go through Rostock's city centre every day and, with the RFID Windshield Label by Schreiner PrinTrust (Oberschleißheim, Germany), has an automatic payment system that has proven its worth for a decade now.

Since 2012, the Schreiner RFID label has been used by the private operator, Warnowquerung GmbH & Co. KG. And even after ten years, the small high-tech label is still very well accepted by customers. Once it has been correctly placed on the inside of the windscreen, it is very easy and uncomplicated to use: it only takes a few seconds for the label to establish a connection with the customer's account when passing through the toll station and to debit the corresponding tariff. A stop is not necessary, the barrier opens automatically. Another advantage is that all twelve lanes can be used with the RFID label, two are reserved especially for these users.

Thanks to the trusting cooperation with the technical service provider B&S Data Systems, the label by Schreiner PrinTrust and the RFID infrastructure are optimally coordinated with each other and thus ensure free travel and satisfied customers with a read rate of almost 100% – and that with 75 million passages by now!

Not at all in view of the constantly growing traffic in the Hanseatic city. On the contrary, the toll underwater shortcut in Rostock will probably remain the most convenient option as it is easy on the wallet, the nerves of drivers and also on nature.
