Renewed use of adphos thermal processing technology in battery manufacturing

In 2021, adphos (Bruckmühl, Germany) delivered several thermal process lab and pilot systems for various, even multi-layer, battery coating applications and a first high-speed dryer for separator foil coatings to a leading Asian customer.

Furthermore, two aNIR drying and thermal processing systems for sheet-based battery (electrode) production, with a productivity of up to 500 components/h, were also successfully commissioned earlier this year. The drying and thermal processing requirements with adphos' proprietary aNIR solutions have been reduced from several minutes/component to less than three seconds even for layer thicknesses of several hundred microns. The subsequently necessary sintering of printed electrical coatings on thermally sensitive plastic films is also realised with aNIR solutions.

Currently, adphos is involved in a series of projects with major international battery manufacturers (mainly in the automotive sector), as well as players in the field of capacitors and printed electronics, for systematic evaluation, engineering and/or introduction into industrial application processes. This is both for upgrades/improvements of existing process lines as well as for greenfield installations.
