Over 140 international high level representatives of renowned organisations like AUO, CPT, E Ink, ITRI, Heraeus, Raynergy Tek, NovaCentrix and Merck gathered in Taiwan to get a global view on organic and printed electronics and discuss collaboration possibilities. The meeting was organised by the Organic Electronics Association (OE-A; a working group within the VDMA dedicated to organic and printed electronics).

Centrally located in East Asia, Taiwan is one of the leading Asian countries when it comes to displays and printed electronics and has the world’s largest PCB industry. In line with OE-A’s goal to increase international presence in these fields, OE-A offered its members several networking opportunities. Besides the joint OE-A & TDUA (Taiwan Display Union Association) working group meeting, which included company tours of E Ink, ITRI and Polyera, participants attended the ICFPE Conference and Tradeshow.

Due to their continuously increasing presence in the world of technology, flexible displays, OLED and OPV were the key topics of the OE-A working group meeting hosted by ITRI and Heraeus. Latest products, prototypes, know-how, and developments – such as the Wove Band, a flexible and wearable display by Polyera, as well as various concepts of foldable OLED displays by AUO, CPT and ITRI – were presented and demonstrated.

“OE-A sees an impressive development of flexible displays in Taiwan. International cooperation along the entire value chain is crucial in order to bring these innovative displays to market. It is therefore that OE-A and TDUA join forces to foster successful partnerships across the global industry,” says Dr Klaus Hecker, managing director of OE-A.
