OE-A announces the winners of the Demonstrator Award and the LOPEC Start-up Forum

The OE-A (Organic and Printed Electronics Association) has just announced the winners of its Demonstrator Award, which is granted to innovative concepts that show the manifold areas of application of printed and organic electronics.

“This year we had very interesting and highly professional contributions from the areas consumer electronics, lighting, functional surfaces and identification,” reports Dr Stephan Kirchmeyer, chairman of the OE-A board. “Compared to the past years the results of the projects have grown much more mature.” A total of 17 demonstrators and eight design concepts were submitted.

The winners in the different categories are:

Best Prototype / New Product: Multitouch Sensor for Smart Phones – PolyIC, Germany

Best Freestyle Demonstrator: Flexible Timer for Rough Environments – University of Applied Sciences Munich, Germany, and California Polytechnic State University, USA

Best Publicly Funded Project Demonstrator: Fully Printed Batteries – BatMat Konsortium ( consisting of Felix Schoeller, Schreiner Group, Chemnitz University of Technology, Elantas, Hochschule der Medien Stuttgart and Varta Microbattery), Germany

Best Design Concept: Organic and Printed Electronics in Packaging – Fachhochschule Köln, Germany

The Start-up Forum awards, which are meant to support young companies and start-ups, where given to:

Most Impactful Technology: Prof. Dr. Masayuki Kanehara, Colloidal Inc. Co., Ltd., Japan

Best Business Case: Dr. Damoder Reddy, Argil, Inc., USA
