Insulectro demonstrates dry metal printing on paper and polyester at IPC APEX EXPO
Metallograph continuous dry metal printing on paper and polyester will again be demonstrated live at the Insulectro (Lake Forest, California) booth during the IPC APEX EXPO in San Diego, California, from 27 February to 1 March. The tradeshow focuses on printed circuit boards and electronics manufacturing.
Metallograph thermal transfer technology is a family of copper, aluminium and dielectric resin ribbons, for use in the flexible and printed electronics industries. Thermal transfer digital printers are used everywhere for industrial labelling of products and packages, and consequently are inexpensive for electronics. Analogue foil transfer is equally common for decoration of premium labels and packaging, again, being highly productive and very cost effective.
Metallograph conductors are ideal for RAIN (passive UHF) RFID antenna design, prototyping, short run and high volume production. They are functional for NFC RFID and for lower current circuits, including sensors and modest numbers of LED lamps. Multi-layer single-pass printing is reported to permit construction of more complicated structures at unprecedented productivity based on investment.
The demonstration will use an off-the-shelf Zebra label printer, polyester films from Insulectro and Metallograph ribbons from IIMAK, polyester films from Insulectro and papers from UPM Raflatac to print antennas and circuits.
