From vision to project – OE-A Competition 2016 showcases innovative ideas at LOPEC 2016

 

Already in its fifth year, the Organic Electronics Association (OE-A) organises a competition for its members from all different sectors of organic and printed electronics. Numerous international companies, research institutes and universities take part in this annual competition to present their ideas, prototypes, and concepts. The best submission in each of the four categories – “Products & New Prototypes“; “Freestyle Demonstrator“; “Publicly Funded Project Demonstrator“; and “Printed Electronics Vision“ – will be honored at LOPEC 2016 in Munich, Germany.

This time there are prototypes and products in the packaging, wearables, smart buildings as well as consumer electronics sectors. In total, 20 submissions will be showcased at the OE-A booth (Messe Munich, Hall B0, booth 510) during LOPEC 2016. For example, there will be a T-shirt with an integrated, interactive game, produced by NovaCentrix and Eurecat. Furthermore, Polyera developed the “Wove Band”, a wristband with a flexible display. There will also be examples of energy-efficient buildings – several OE-A members worked together to create a living room including various organic photovoltaics (OPV) applications.

Again this year, attendees can cast their votes and choose which demonstrator deserves the “Public Choice Award”. The voters can also win something: three OLED lights from LG Chem will be raffled off. The winner of the OE-A Competition 2016 will be announced on 6 April during the LOPEC Dinner & Award Show. “By hosting this competition, the OE-A supports the further market development of organic and printed electronics. The projects also support young researchers”, says Dr. Klaus Hecker, Managing Director of the OE-A, a working group within VDMA. “This is how we illustrate how organic and printed electronics can be applied while in turn supporting new ideas and collaboration”.
