E Ink signs joint development agreement with MICROVIEW Electronics for ePaper applications

 

E Ink Holdings (Billerica, Massachusetts), a leading innovator of electronic ink technology, has signed a joint development agreement with MICROVIEW Electronics (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd. for the development and sale of ePaper modules for retail shelf labels, healthcare, wearables and various IoT applications.

E Ink and MICROVIEW Electronics will use their respective strengths to jointly develop and expand applications using E Ink’s ePaper products. E Ink will provide ePaper films to MICROVIEW, who will be authorised to manufacture and sell ePaper display modules, and E Ink will support MICROVIEW Electronics in the development and production of those modules. MICROVIEW Electronics will leverage their strong customer base and customer support capabilities to further develop and promote ePaper applications, including Electronic Shelf Labels (ESL), smart healthcare wearables and smart home devices.

MICROVIEW Electronics Co., Ltd. expects to reach an annual production capacity of five to eight million ePaper display modules in 2021 and an annual production capacity of 10 million ePaper modules in 2022.
