Coatema hosts virtual edition of its international Coating Symposium

The 19th International Coating Symposium on 4 November was successfully held in virtual format in Coatema´s own tv studio. The manufacturer from Dormagen, Germany, stated that the premiere was well received.

There were interesting talks from speakers of different nations and industries with titles such as „high speed inkjet printing – a system integration perspective” from Shahzad Khan, PhD (NTS Eindhoven, The Netherlands). Dr Dimitrios Kourkoulos from Coatema offered his  abstract of „nanocellulose as sustainable packaging substrates”, while Milan Saalmink from Holst Centre / TNO (Eindhoven, The Netherlands) lectured on „wearable patches for vital sign monitoring”.  A lively panel discussion between speakers and participants, as well as completely new designed product videos of the Coatema Easycoater and Smartcoater marked the end of the first half of the event.

In the afternoon, Dr John Fahlteich from Fraunhofer FEP started with an abstract about the EU-funded initiative „FlexFunction2Sustain” project, which Coatema is proud to be a part of.

Later on, Werner Volk from Optima packaging Germany gave an overview on „fuel cell converting technologies” and Prof Thomas Gries from RWTH Aachen highlighted how „integrated functions form the line – smart composites manufactured continuously”.

A second panel discussion and the third product video of the Coatema Click&Coat system were shown, before Prof Argiris Laskarakis from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki gave an insight in solar cells and the „RealNano” EU funded project, which Coatema is also a part of. His presentation was called „quality control systems for flexible solar cells”.

Last but not least, due to great demand, Dr Klaus-Peter Crone from Coatema explained once again „intermittent slot die” with numerous examples. As everything worked out well even on the digital platform, Coatema announced more virtual content for 2021.
