CPI announces smart labelling project in partnership with Reelables using novel battery-on-circuit technology

CPI, The Centre for Process Innovation in the UK, recently announced a new collaborative project with Reelables to demonstrate a novel technology for printing smart Battery-on-Circuit labels, used to track shared objects in workspaces. This low-cost power source will eliminate the need for expensive and bulky external batteries for printed electronics, overcoming a key barrier to their widening application, mass production and industry growth.

Fraunhofer FEP: H2020 grant for perovskite-based lighting, wearables and fabric devices

The EC is now boosting the impressive research activities in the field of perovskites by the PeroCUBE project, which is funded under Horizon 2020. On 1 April 2020, 14 European partners from industry and science in ten countries launched the joint project to develop new applications in the fields of lighting, photovoltaics and telecommunications. Researchers from the Fraunhofer Institute for Organic Electronics, Electron Beam and Plasma Technology FEP in Dresden, Germany, are involved in the project and will contribute their expertise over the next 3,5 years.

Interlink Electronics quadruples production of sensor components for ventilators

Interlink Electronics, Inc. (Camarillo, California), a global provider of HMI sensors and IoT solutions, announced that it has quadrupled its output of components used in the making of lifesaving equipment in support of the relief effort against the COVID-19 pandemic. This includes Interlink's patented Ring Sensor, a touch-operated, wheel-shaped sensor used in non-invasive ventilators that assist COVID-19 patients experiencing respiratory distress. The sensors are designed to be operated by users wearing gloves, and can also withstand quick deep cleanings – both ideal features for any hospital or medical environment.

Heliatek: Winner of OE-A Competition in the category “Best Publicly Funded Project Demonstrator”

Heliatek (Dresden, Germany) has won the 2020 OE-A competition in the category: “Best Publicly Funded Project Demonstrator”. The award honours an innovative integration solution for façades using Heliatek’s organic solar films. A record of more than 20 applications from international companies were submitted and the OE-A selected the organic solar pioneer as one of three winners. This year’s competition was digital due to the cancelation of the LOPEC trade fair, the host event where the winners are usually being awarded.
