Isorg and Sumitomo Chemical announce partnership to develop organic photodetectors

Isorg (Grenoble, France), a pioneer in organic photodetectors (OPDs) and large-area image sensors, and Sumitomo Chemical (Tokyo, Japan), a leader in OPD materials production and other fields, announced their agreement to develop new OPD products for use as smartphone fingerprint sensors and hybrid organic CMOS image sensors.

BASF starts up plant for functionalising foils in Münster

In the presence of the minister of economics of the German federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia, Prof Andreas Pinkwart, and Münster’s mayor Markus Lewe, a plant for coating foils was started up on the BASF company premises in Münster. Innovative materials applied layer by layer in an ultra-thin coat give foils additional properties, thus “functionalising” them. BASF developed the innovative coating technology and the first product – a barrier foil – within a very short time.

CLEARink and FLEx to create next generation ePaper display solutions

CLEARink Displays (Fremont, California) and FLEx Lighting (Chicago, Illinois) have announced a collaboration to create the next generation ePaper display solution based on CLEARink’s ePaper 2.0 and FLEx’s ultra-thin front light. The companies had together built a prototype 9.7” colour ePaper display with front light and their tradeshow booth won the prestigious People’s Choice Award at the recently concluded Society for Information Display’s (SID) world renowned Display Week exhibition in San Jose, California.
